3 MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY
1 Boudoir Photography is not JUST FOR WOMEN WHO HAVE a significant other.
People tend to think boudoir photography is some raunchy, risque form of photography for a bride to give her groom, or for a woman to give her lover. There is a negative connotation surrounding it, and we're about to change that.
Women's portraiture, including boudoir, is about the woman. Nowhere in the bible will you find women were created to be sex symbols. They are so much more. That's not to say her husband won't like her images, but what about the women who don't have husbands?
In the end, boudoir photography is of the woman and for the woman. A journey that helps her come face to face with all the wonderful, beautiful things about herself.
2 BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT ABOUT SEX.
Why is it that people tend to equate photographs of the female body with sex? Just mention the word "boudoir", and some people freak out like it's sinful (shame on you.) Actually, the term, "boudoir," just means a woman's bedroom. There is nothing sexual about her bedroom. It's a place where she can be herself. A place where she can hide away from the world. A place she can put on something comfortable and relax. Maybe she watches television in her bedroom or maybe she reads a book. It's just a room; a safe haven from the world.
Boudoir photography is about celebrating her beauty and uniqueness. It is where she realizes she is enough just the way she is. That her beauty is not dependent on a man's affirmation.
3 BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY ISN'T JUST FOR THIN WOMEN WITH PERFECT BODIES.
In today's world, everywhere we look we see misrepresentations of real women. Most of us aren't supermodels. Most of us don't have personal chefs. Most of us are wearing 30 hats and struggling to get our makeup on in the morning. We forget to take care of ourselves, and sometimes we just plain out put ourselves last because we have fallen for the lie that it's selfish to take care of ourselves.
Boudoir Photography is for all women who want to feel better about themselves. It is for all women who want to experience more self-esteem and self-confidence. It is for all women who want to do something that scares them to death but helps them see they are beautiful and strong. Boudoir Photography is for you, whether you are 20 or 60. Boudoir Photography is for you whether you weigh 120 pounds or 220 pounds or more. Boudoir Photography is for any woman who needs to feel empowered.
We hope this blog post makes you think. If you are a man, we hope it makes you think that your wife is more than what you perceive her to be. That her beauty isn't based on whether you think she is or not. Most men want women to be attractive on their terms, but today we are proclaiming her beauty, both inside and out, is independent of man's opinion.
